Hope by the Sea is a full service treatment center that provides services from interventions through aftercare and sober living. Sober living homes are safe, drug and alcohol-free environments in which peers can support each other in their sobriety and learn new ways to cope with problems and conflict. Staff at our sober living home are often recovering addicts and alcoholics themselves and are able to provide support and advice to people who are newly sober. Because residential treatment is just the start of recovery, often times sober living homes help people further develop healthy coping skills and daily habits to prevent relapse.
Hope by the Sea offers a sober living program that allows both freedom and structure at the same time. 12-step meetings and other therapeutic activities are encouraged as they teach newly sober individuals how to take care of themselves and their recovery on a daily basis. Clients in sober living are able to go to school, work and outside meetings, have reasonable curfews to instigate normal daily habits and may have chores or other projects within the house to keep it running smoothly.
The majority of people who use sober living as a tool after residential treatment find that long term sobriety is easier to maintain and that the social network and friends that they meet in sober living end up being supportive, honest friends. Sober living homes are generally not co-ed in order to reduce outside distractions and focus on recovery. There may be a minimum stay, but often times people choose to stay in sober living for longer than required because it is a supportive, loving environment. Hope by the Sea encourages their clients to use sober living as an additional form of support after drug or alcohol treatment. |
